APL (Array Processing Language)
has been created by Ken Iverson
and colleages at IBM in the 1960s (as A Programming Language) .
Although said dead over and over again, APL continues to live on happily,
in ever new adaptions to the most modern hardware and operating systems.
While certainly the «religious wars» over the one and only programming language are a thing of the past, for many problems APL offers solutions demonstrating the «unbelievable ease» of intelligent code. APL was conceived by Ken Iverson as an extremely powerful mathematical notation. Indeed, this power is quite unusual, and still unique, among programming languages. SAUG is a special interest group within SI, the Schweizer Informatik Gesellschaft. | ||||||

APL (Array Processing Language)
wurde von Ken Iversion und Kollegen bei IBM in den 60-er-Jahren entwickelt
(als A Programming Language) .
Obwohl immer wieder totgesagt, lebt APL fröhlich weiter und wird
laufend an neue Hardware und Betriebssysteme angepasst.
Jenseits aller «Religionskriege» um die einzig wahre Programmiersprache erlaubt APL für viele Probleme äusserst elegante und transparente Lösungen. APL wurde von Ken Iverson eigentlich als mathematische Notation konzipiert. Als solche hat sie eine einzigartige Stärke. SAUG ist eine Fachgruppe der Schweizer Informatik Gesellschaft. |
